Extensions & Conservatories
An extension or conservatory is a great way to expand your home’s living space in the style that you want. Often allowed under ‘permitted development’ (as opposed to needing full planning permission) they are perfect to blend inside to outside (and vice versa). And it’s usually a lot cheaper than moving to get more space.
There are no ‘off-the-shelf’ solutions here, though. KRB can build your dream extension exactly as you want it. We will work with you, your architect, your structural engineer and co-ordinate the whole project from beginning to completion.
Let us create the perfect Extension or Conservatory for your home
A modern, energy-efficient extension or conservatory from KRB provides you with:
- Extra living space: bigger kitchen, extra bedroom, home office, or whatever your lifestyle needs.
- Energy-efficient glazing: modern large-panel windows and doors let the light flood in but keep the heat from flooding out.
- A perfect entertaining space: finally you can have friends round without squeezing round a tiny kitchen table.
- Potential increase in home value: a KRB-built extension could boost your home’s value by as mush as 20%-25%.
- Tailored layout: design it exactly the way you want, to suit your needs and budget
Every extension or conservatory we build is bespoke to your specification, and designed to fit in to the architecture and design of your home. Kitchen extensions work particularly well when combined with Bi-Fold Doors or Sliding Patio Doors.

We’re here to help you make the right choice
Whatever you choose, an investment of this nature into your home is not insubstantial, so you need to be sure you are making the right choice from an informed position. We’ll help you get there.
This really depends on your viewpoint. Conservatories used to be hugely popular as a way to let more light into your home, but had a reputation in the past for being shoddy quality.
A properly built extension with modern glazing will let plenty of light in, be warm in winter, cool in summer and be useable all year round. Your choice will depend on available garden space, budget, personal preference, and intended use.
Once upon a time, yes! They were often made from poorly sealed double-glazed units which used air between the panes rather than inert gas, as modern sealed units do.
These days the sealed units in conservatory glass (and pretty much all sealed units in windows and doors) use argon or krypton gas as both are highly thermally ‘inefficient’ so do not transfer heat like normal air does. Low-E glass coatings on modern glass also help tremendously.
In many cases, no you won’t, but it is possible that you will – depending on a number of factors including the size and scale of your desired/intended extension, the planned increase in area relative to the original size (footprint) of the house when built, the location of the intended build (front, side, or back of house), and even your geographic location.
In most cases we will be able to give you a considered opinion, but we are not planners so we advise that you seek clarification from your local council planning office to establish the exact legal requirements and restrictions. You can find a lot of useful information here.
